The Municipality of Hellinikon-Argyroupolis, in collaboration with the Animal Welfare Intervention of Hellinikon-Argyroupolis organisation, volunteers and Hellinikon S.A., continues to pick up stray cats from the former Hellinikon Airport and to provide them with care, contrary to the inaccurate news circulated by so-called animal lovers.

Under adverse and dangerous health conditions, 56 cats have been picked up so far from various spots of the former Hellinikon Airport (Departures Area of the West Terminal, Civil Aviation Authority building, Logistics Center, Departures Area of the East Terminal, Hellinikon beach). All cats have received appropriate care, according to the rules set by Greek law.

Immediately after pick up, the cats are taken to the vet; if necessary, they are neutered and treated, and then they are vaccinated and obtain a health booklet and chip.

Next, they are taken to animal shelters or are put up for adoption. The municipal authorities are active 24 / 7 to ensure the success of the operation.

Several stray cats have already been adopted while the rest are sent to animal shelters.

Stray cat pick up activities will continue as a priority in the coming days.
